Economical, Brass Body, Dry Dial, Pulsed Output

The SERIES WMT2 Multi-Jet Water Meter is a series of mechanical, water totalizing meters that display the total water usage in Gallons or m3 and provide a reed switch output proportional to flow rate. They are available in a range of body sizes and include NPT or BSPT couplings.

Not for potable water use, brass contains lead in excess of low lead limits.

Question
I recently purchased an WM2-A-C-01, For my application the pipe is vertical with the water flowing downward. The instructions mention that it should be mounted horizontally. Is it ok to mount vertically?
Answer
Multi-jet meters use multiple ports surrounding an internal chamber to create multiple jets of water against an impeller. The impeller rotation speed depends on the velocity of the water flow. If your water is flowing downward it will not rotate the impeller as it does in a horizontal pipe or in a up flow condition. Therefore, you cannot install this instrument in a vertical down flow application and receive accurate readings.
